The centerpiece event of Christmas in Edgartown, the Great Chowder Contest crowns the best clam and the best seafood or Island chowder made on Martha's Vineyard. This is held for the benefit of The Red Stocking Fund of Martha's Vineyard. Held on Saturday, December 8th from Noon-2pm under the tent at the Anchors in Edgartown, more than a dozen professionals, restaurants and individuals vie for the title of best clam or best seafood chowder. The best chowders are determined by vote. Admission is $10 per person which entitles you to a sample of each of these delicious chowders. It's without question the best lunch on the Island. All benefits from ticket sales go to The Red Stocking Fund which more 70 years has provided clothing, food and holiday presents for those in most need on Martha's Vineyard.
