White Elephant General Manager, Bettina Landt has a passion for curating unique Nantucket and elephant-themed items for the hotel's adorable gift shop. This season, one item that is sure to be a hit with visiting taste-makers, is a selection of beautiful sea glass artwork from Boston based artist, Andrea Gurecki.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhile running along the shores of Boston Harbor, Andrea discovered what she calls her 'secret sea glass beach'. She finds mostly brown and amber sea glass and sometimes the uncommon shades of blues and greens. In fact occasionally, the glass she finds is not quite as tumbled and aged as true sea glass, but Andrea doesn't necessarily discriminate here, instead she focuses on what she can make it into. And her creations are both unique and sentimental, depicting coastal icons and shapes that reflect the love of the sea which so many New Englanders identify with.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEach piece of art takes time and dedication. No two creations are identical, each with their own characteristics and qualities.\r\n\r\nAndrea, who is a real estate agent by day, has grown a hobby of making sea glass art into quite an impressive side hustle, and is now expanding her reach into creating more customized pieces for peoples' homes and catering to individual style.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAndrea has been traveling to Nantucket for weekend getaways since 2005 and decided to look into selling her artwork on Nantucket, as many of her clients have summer homes on the island. We think these fun and creative gems will be a hot item here at White Elephant!
