It will soon be easier for our New York friends to escape to the sunshine of Palm Beach. Starting Nov. 10, Delta Air Lines will be launching new routes from New York's Westchester County Airport (HPN) to Orlando and West Palm Beach, the carrier confirmed to Travel + Leisure on Tuesday.

Introducing Mary Chandler, one of six artists commissioned as part of the transformative 2023 hotel renovation at White Elephant Nantucket. From the lobby to the guest rooms, guests will experience a modern take on a Nantucket classic. In keeping with White Elephant’s artistic legacy, new art will be installed throughout the historic harborside accommodations.

Nantucket’s flagship White Elephant hotel has a history of providing an experience that goes beyond our accommodations and next-level service to include sharing our stunning art collection with our valued guests. That’s why, as part of our complete 2023 renovation, including lobby, guest rooms and garden cottages, we’re honoring that tradition by commissioning several new pieces through the launch of our Artist in Residence program. Six artists have been commissioned to create art that is meaningful and authentic to Nantucket and to White Elephant. The artists spent two weeks exploring the island to gather inspiration for their works, venturing to some parts of the island only accessible by boat.

The inaugural Edward E. and Suzanne G. Elson Award was presented to the White Elephant Palm Beach on December 5th, 2022. The Elson award recognizes an outstanding new construction or major rehabilitation of a commercial or public space in the Town of Palm Beach. The White Elephant exuberantly fulfills the award criteria in its rehabilitation of the landmarked Algemac hotel and contribution to the revitalization of Royal Poinciana Way. Historic properties are the core of a well-established business district. They create an authentic sense of place that encourages people to visit and invest in the area. As the first Mediterranean Revival-style hotel built in Palm Beach in 1923, the Algemac was one of the earliest locations where the style could be experienced in a public setting.

The White Elephant, overlooking the harbor, has been an integral part of Nantucket’s history since the 1920s. Built as a series of rustic cottages, the landmark has evolved into the island’s most timeless resort, with a collection of chic accommodations showcasing the very best of the beloved destination. In May 2023, in time with the White Elephant’s 100th anniversary, the resort will debut yet another metamorphosis, with a multi-million top-to-bottom restoration and renovation of its 66-room and -suite Harborside Hotel and 11 Cottages.

White Elephant Resorts has been recognized by The Boston Globe’s 15th annual “Top Places to Work” 2022 for the ninth consecutive year. The annual employee-based survey received submissions from more than 90,000 employees at 381 Massachusetts-based companies this year, the most companies ever surveyed. The results were published on BostonGlobe.com on December 1 and will run in the Boston Sunday Globe on December 4.
